Johannesburg, South Africa: symphonic black metal band Spectral Realm is prepping the release of a second full length album to follow its 2015 debut, Voyage to Spectral Realm. The new work, titled The Spectral Witch of the Exe River, is likely to arrive towards the end of 2018.
“The Spectral Battalion has been hauntingly quiet in recent months. We are however steadily progressing in bringing our second full length album to life.” ~ Theo Rabe (vocals, Spectral Realm)
In the meantime, members bid farewell to one of their own and welcome another into the fold.
Spectral Realm, a new voyage embarks
At this juncture it also comes to light that the band has seen a shuffle in membership. Longtime keyboardist and specter extraordinaire, Shelby Green, has departed.
“We would like to extend a big Thank You to Shelby for her continuous commitment and sacrifices to perform live keys at various venues with Spectral Realm. Her contributions will never be diminished and we wish her all the best in her future endeavors.” ~ Theo Rabe
Stepping into her position is Neville Cameron Shield; perhaps best known for his similar role in fellow extreme metal band Lesuth.
“Having played a once off show with Neville in the Western Cape in 2015, we have no doubt that he will be mesmerizing patrons at metal shows with distinction and majesty, as he has done so for numerous musical projects.” ~ Theo Rabe
As to the new album, we are told that some preview material will become available soon. In the meantime, we’ve been informed that, as the title suggests to those in the know, it will be a concept album rooted in local lore.
