In little more than six weeks, Polish death/black metal heavyweights Behemoth are scheduled to return to South Africa for two performances. Having visited for the first time as recently as 2014 (see previous article here), the band are still riding the wave of success from their acclaimed The Satanist album which had been released earlier in that year. In the interim, Behemoth‘s charismatic writer and frontman, ‘Nergal’, has had his book Confessions Of A Heretic: The Sacred And The Profane: Behemoth And Beyond published in English and to much acclaim.
“Rebellion is a part of youth. Sometimes it’s dangerous. Instead of a sword, I hold a guitar in my hands. I’m in the same, rigid world but instead of Molotov cocktails, I’ve got a computer. It’s a much more powerful weapon.” ~ Nergal Darski (vocals / guitar, Behemoth)
Included at each South African appearance will be a book signing opportunity. Behemoth are booked to appear in Gauteng at Johannesburg’s Bassline on 26 March (link to facebook event page), featuring three other international guest bands which includes Voltumna and Pulvis Et Umbra from Italy, as well as Diskord from Norway. In Cape Town, Behemoth are booked for an exclusive appearance at The Assembly on 27 March (link to facebook event page).
