The original Death of Africa compilation is almost a relic in the eyes of the African metal scene. Originally released in 1993 and re-released on tape in 1994, Inhouse Productions set out to showcase African metal on a global scale. Nearly twenty years later, Inhouse is at it again with the assistance of Marx Audio Productions, NDE Productions and NDE:KVLT to put together and release The Death of Africa (Volume 2)!
The ringleader of this endeavour, Chris “Sarcophagus” Marx had this to say: “You can classify genres by location, like Swedish death metal as well as Norwegian black metal. That is what we want for the sound of African Metal, so that you can tell a band is different from the rest of the world and people would know that they are listening to uniquely African metal. We want to reintroduce the thought that South African and African metal is world class!”
Death of Africa featured tracks from metal godfathers Voice of Destruction as well as Debauchery, Abhorrence, Funeral and Retribution Denied and was distributed in Europe by Morbid Records. A lot of changes have happened in twenty years and now it’s time to show the world what African metal is made of (again)!
If you feel your band is up to the challenge, follow the instructions below to submit to be involved with the Death of Africa (Volume 2).
According to Chris, “Each band will have to write one new song that keeps to the concept of African Metal. If they have written the song and cannot record it, Inhouse Audio Productions will give them sponsored studio time.”
This is a great opportunity for young bands to make themselves known as well as for established bands to further cement their mark on the continent and the world. For more information, contact any of the groups listed below:
