Cape Town, South Africa: it’s been a long time since anybody heard from the relentlessly heavy Messiah Complex. Until a little more than a week ago, that is, when a song appeared suddenly with ‘Crown Of Eyes’. We’ve taken a moment to get up to speed with where the band is at in this day and age, and what can still be expected.
‘Geist’ and ‘Crown of Eyes’: a prelude to Apotheosis
As it turns out, the key members of Messiah Complex find themselves spread out across three countries presently. However, they have been eager to take care of unfinished business; primarily, the wrapping up of an album. The singles, ‘Crown of Eyes’ (lyric video below) released last week, and ‘Geist’ (above) which appeared just today, are merely markers to announce Apotheosis which arrives on this coming Friday. Apotheosis is the long awaited first album!
“So the bad news is Messiah Complex won’t be playing live anytime soon. This album is a culmination of Andre Heunis and myself deciding to release the album Messiah Complex never got around to doing.” ~ Alex Wiese (vocals, Messiah Complex)
With help from Heinrich Köllner from Burning Tone Studios, brothers Alex and Garth (drums), with Andre (writer/guitarist) have completed Apotheosis after three years. Thus Messiah Complex upholds its early promise to fans for a full length album, with eleven brand new songs.
