The Headbanger’s Guild
About:
A growing number of South Africans are learning the truth about our situation as metal-heads in Africa. The truth is that nobody is going to do anything for us which we do not do for ourselves!
Overseas labels can not inject cashflow into our scene, thousands of kilometers away from where their market lays. Overseas festivals will not pay to transport unknown bands across vast distances to play to their audiences. Our government and our private sector have nothing to gain by assisting African metal. But there is always hope. Not the foolish sort where we wait blindly in the dark for the impossible to happen. Rather, there is hope in that the flame of metal burns in our hearts, and we are strong, and our will is strong. There is hope that we can present a united front to the world and make sure that we get recognized by means that do not require miracles or divine intervention – but rather just good old fashioned hard work!
The Headbangers Guild has pledged itself to do this work! We offer every single head-banging South African a chance to take a stand. As a small but ever-expanding army, we South African metal-heads now have an opportunity to gather behind an organisation which has committed itself heart and soul, and to affect a true difference within our situation as being isolated from the global metal community. With your support, the website www.metal4africa.com is going to do all it can to bridge the gap between African Metal and the Global metal arena.
Structure:
The Headbanger’s Guild is a formal and legitimate non-profit organization, complete with a managing committee comprized of persons with a vast experience of both local metal as well as administrative skills, with a lawful constitution and also it’s own banking account. It’s sole purpose is to raise funds for the continuous development, maintenance and expansion of www.metal4africa.com and it’s projects. You can assist The Guild by pledging a tiny monthly donation, collected by means of debit order, of R30. This is an amount that even the most modest of incomes can afford, but every little bit will help to thicken our armour and sharpen our sword. If you receive a salary into a banking account, and have a desire to see African Metal reach the world, then the process is easy. Once we set up your account, you need never take any other action except to cancel your debit order if ever you feel the need or desire to do so.
