Johannesburg, South Africa: in one week’s time, Facing The Gallows will board a flight to Germany. Not only is the Metalcore act going to champion South Africa at this year’s Wacken Metal Battle at the legendary Wacken Open Air festival, but they will also join Ukrainian band Jinjer for two more shows in Germany. Jinjer recently sold out both dates on it’s South African tour.
Wacken Open Air
Facing The Gallows is the fifth South African band to represent at the international contest since the country began participation in 2013. Previous representatives include Infanteria (2013), Red Helen (2014), Zombies Ate My Girlfriend (2016) and Megalodon (2017). Zombies Ate My Girlfriend brought home the title of international overall winner in 2016.
Facing The Gallows champions us now on the strength of more than a decade of activity on the local scene, and experience playing at most of the nation’s major festival events. The band also recently released a full length album titled Dead Mindset, available on all major platforms. You can also buy it via bandcamp as of this week.
Supporting Jinjer for two dates: The Modern Day Slavery and Facing The Gallows
The towns of Aachen and Jena are in for a treat of a mash-up. Jinjer will headline with a progressive metal onslaught. From Italy, The Modern Age Slavery will add a death metal twist, and finally a strong dose of metalcore from South Africa’s Facing The Gallows providing support. It promises to be a multi-national and eclectic party of note.
“FTG is beyond stoked to be supporting Jinjer on their upcoming summer EU tour; we can’t thank you enough for having us.
