Cape Town, South Africa: one of the most elusive new bands out of this city in 2018 is Woltemade; named after local lore legend,Wolraad Woltemade.
First signs of the new Melodic Death Metal band surfaced in April with a sudden social media appearance and the announcement of two shows. Though oddly, neither show took place in Cape Town, where three current members are based, or even in South Africa. Woltemade and its all-star line-up of Karel Kogler (Day Turns Night), Marius Theron (Azrail, Infiltrate Neutralize Govern), Stefan Steyn (Mjölnir, SubMission, Within Madness), Waldi Briedenhann (Beeldenstorm) and Patrick Davidson (Mind Assault, Terminatryx) head straight for Namibia and Botswana; performing in Stefan’s home city of Windhoek before also appearing at the Overthrust Winter Metal Mania Festival in Ghanzi.
Woltemade: Fragments of Lore Tour
With Patrick making way for the arrival of Wian Bester (Imperial Destruction, The Fallen Prophets) into the band, and recording for an album now wrapped up, Woltemade is greasing its axles for another roadtrip! To close off 2018, catch the Fragments of Lore tour in Port Elizabeth and Jeffrey’s Bay.
“The band is very excited to be hitting the road again after spending the last few months since our Botswana / Namibia tour in studio. With band members being based so far apart – spread between Cape Town, Worcester and Albertinia – we find it quite easy to play anywhere since we’re used to constantly traveling to rehearse together.” ~ Marius Theron (drums, Woltemade)
Cape Town can finally enjoy a live debut at SummerFest’19 on 02 February, also coinciding with the album launch.
