Johannesburg, South Africa: local entertainment label, Turning Tricks Entertainment, has signed progressive metalcore band Red Helen to its management roster. Turning Tricks Entertainment is likely best known for pioneering the Krank’d Up music festival; a single day outdoor event featuring international and local talent annually since 2013. The company claims credit for numerous national tours as well. Not least of all including visitors TesseracT (UK), Karnivool (Australia), Protest The Hero (Canada), Affiance (USA) and others.
The company also represents local talent with Johannesburg’s Deity’s Muse and Only Forever; the list to which Red Helen is now added. The next chapter for the company is to focus on helping South African talent increase their global reach. The first exhibit occurring last year when Deity’s Muse played at Euroblast Festival in Germany.
Red Helen, aiming for new heights.
Red Helen‘s own story dates back to 2008. A highly experienced live act, Red Helen took the highest honour in the 2014 Wacken Metal Battle: South Africa. The band went on to represent SA in Germany at the international finals of that year; finishing up withing the top 10 of 30 countries.
“It has taken us seven years to sign a new band because we feel that if we are going to work with a band or artist, that artist needs to inspire us as much as we inspire them. Red Helen is a hard working act and has what it takes to take on the international stage” ~ Duncan Bell (director, Turning Tricks Entertainment)
More recently, Red Helen wowed audiences at key local festivals such as Oppikoppi and Krank’d Up, plus supported TesseracT on its 2017 South African tour. Another highlight for the band within the last twelve months was the release of it’s stunning Trading Past for Pathways debut full length album. Apparently we’re not the only ones looking forward to seeing what doors the future with Turning Tricks Entertainment might open.
“We are incredibly excited about our partnership with the awesome people at Turning Tricks Entertainment! We’ve worked together many, many times in the past and are very excited for what the future may hold for both of us. We’ve always loved the way TTE treat artists, the kinds of bands and people they choose to work with, the international artists they bring to our shores and the awesome events they put on. Exciting times ahead!” ~ Brandon Pratt (vocals, Red Helen)
