BADLANDS: now an annual Stellenbosch event

Stellenbosch, South Africa: local promoter From The Hive says that the BADLANDS event concept is here to stay. With the first by it’s name taken place in November 2016, armed to the teeth with an all-Metal line-up, we are told that an annual tradition is taking root. This weekend see’s a second round of action at Aandklas with an equally bad-ass repertoire of bands.

BADLANDS 2017, marking the earliest milestone

“This is our second installment of BADLANDS. This year we are a month earlier due to how many shows are happening in November. This will be an annual event which we plan to do every year at Aandklas”. ~ Kent Snell (event coordinator, From The Hive)

The theme is apologetically Metal. The brains behind the theme have been at work in the scene doing shows which bring the extremes in brutality together with the unpredictable; seeking to break down some of the stereotypical boundaries of more traditional Metal experiences from the last ten years. The key is diversity.

BADLANDS is a show that is described simply by its name. IT’S BADLANDS! Uncharted territory; especially when it comes to metal”. ~ Beez (event coordinator, From The Hive)

Aandklas, the ideal BADLANDS ‘home base’

Through the years, Aandklas has become the rock n’ roll go-to hangout in Stellenbosch, and also hosted it’s fair share of Metal shows. But the Metal ones are rare, making it a great destination for people looking for a change of scenery from their usual hangouts.

“This is what makes BADLANDS stand out; bringing Metal back to Stellies, and bringing it back
in a big way!” ~ Beez

Hosted at this year’s installation of the show is headliner Ohgod, freshly returned from Krank’d Up in Gauteng and will be celebrating the release of ‘Hungry Ghosts’; the first single from it’s upcoming album. Joining Ohgod is Subject To Slaughter, Holo, scene newcomers As Time Divides, and a surprise act which will – as rumour has it – be making its debut performance at BADLANDS.

Entrance will be R50 at Aandklas on Saturday 07 October, 2017. Prize giveaways, sponsors and other information can be discovered by following the official facebook event page.
