Cape Town, South Africa: local event promotions agency, The UnScene, is currently celebrating a relaunch. Led by super-fan and live music enthusiast Zain Domo, the organization has been one of a few which emerged in recent years to focus on revitalizing the local circuit by giving attention to the all-age market, touring bands, and building up greater public rapport on behalf of local venues. The “relaunch”, as Zain has described it, is effectively the unveiling of the organization’s own website and a declaration of being “open for business” for bigger projects. The tag-phrase to accompany this new chapter boldly states: It’s In Your Blood!
“This relaunch aims to build on the progress and experience garnered thus far, by broadening our visual scope as a presence on the web, social media, and other public avenues as well as the live events department.” ~ Zain Domo
With the kicking off of a tour to Cape Town by Gauteng’s Hokum last night, which The UnScene had tidily bundled with their next installation of 18 Till I Die on Saturday 09 July where the visitors will co-headline alongside Cape Town’s own Mind Assault and a ton of other interesting and diverse acts, we asked Zain to describe what this tagline was all about and how it embodies the relaunch:
“’It’s In Your blood’ is exactly the ethos we are trying to push, because it doesn’t matter where you are from, the colour of your skin, the language you speak or the way you choose to dress. The scene is for you, if you choose it, and we are more than happy to open that door and support other individuals and institutions who’s goals also align with the nurturing and growth of this alternative community.” ~ Zain Domo
The tagline is accompanied by a new look for the brand which Zain trusts will further strengthen The UnScene‘s visual appeal and help breathe new life into their tried and trusted approach to activities in and around the Cape Town music scene. Of course, with all of the new and exciting developments, Zain has credited his team Patrick, Aurora, Sonia, Brent and Lizzy for being the bricks and mortar in making this new chapter possible.
“The future is already looking bright-red for the local music scene and we will be there, pushing, encouraging, supporting and exposing our ever-blossoming alternative music culture to the public.” ~ Zain Domo
The Cape Town tour by Hokum, promoting their 2015 The Money Eaters album, includes three more dates:
The UnScene‘s highlighted 18 Till I Die all-ages-welcome show includes a wonderfully diverse line-up showcasing the many layers and textures of the Cape Town alternative music scene, ranging from Progressive and Rock through to Djent, Melodic, and Epic variables of Metal music. Apart from headliners Hokum and Mind Assault, of particular interest is also the long-awaited return to the stage of Conduit, plus the bands Beeldenstorm, Subject To Slaughter, I Became Nothing, and Crooked.
