A Second Chance: returns for another charity event

Unite The Crowd

Cape Town, South Africa: Unite The Crowd is back with another initiative to assist with the care of some furry co-inhabitants of our neighborhoods. Because, you know, contrary to popular belief, metalheads prefer cuddling animals to sacrificing them.

Last year, Unite The Crowd supported the TEARS organization, raising R2000 for them at A Second Chance. This coming weekend, the organizers wish to do the same (if not better) for another worthy beneficiary: DART (Daisy Animal Rescue Trust).

“We’d like to support DART, as all animals are fostered and aren’t put into cages.” ~ Tamlin Duckworth (event organizer, Unite The Crowd)

The show will feature live music, including performances from Khõja, A Swift Redemption, Abaddon, and Bulletscript.

Who is who in the Zoo?

Khõja makes a live debut at A Second Chance on Saturday, consisting of members with other band experience, including from Nethercyst and The Insomniac Diaries. A Swift Redemption is a well-known staple on the Cape Town hard rock circuit, whereas Abaddon is still a relative newcomer playing an ironically upbeat version of extreme metal.

Abaddon also just returned from a visit to Gauteng where the band was nominated as a contender for Best Newcomer at the South African Metal Music Awards.

Bulletscript remains something of a Cape Town legend, although has suffered it’s fair share of turnaround in vocalists. However, the current guise of the band appears as strong as ever, now featuring Brett Bruton formerly from All Guns Full Ammo.

“We also decided to incorporate the ’emo night’ DJs and fanbase to make this event even more successful than the last. The event is all for the love of music and the animal community here in cape town.” ~ Tamlin Duckworth
