Johannesburg, South Africa: one of our latest local acts to grow more familiar with international touring is the progressively inclined Deity’s Muse. Soon, this monument of a band, founded in 2001, will return to Europe. This outing takes Deity’s Muse to the mighty Bloodstock Festival in Derbyshire, United Kingdom; but not without first playing a few other dates across the country. All current dates make up a part of the band’s latest (fourth) album cycle, Convergence, released in 2016.
Deity’s Muse: UK Tour
Locally, Deity’s Muse enjoys a long list of achievement. The band continues to share key support with international visitors on a regular basis; having racked up an impressive resume, including opening for (and touring with some) Dead Letter Circus, Rise Against, Bring Me The Horizon, Blind Guardian, Unearth, Protest The Hero, Knorkator, Affiance, Monuments, 36 Crazyfists, Karnivool, TesseracT and Blindside.
The coming journey to the UK will be the band’s second visit to that territory, and the third to Europe following last year’s outing to Germany for Euroblast. Furthermore, the band will tour along with UK locals, Sümer.
“First off, traveling and seeing the UK is an experience on it’s own. This will be the first time we get to see so much of the UK. I’m particularly excited to see all the different venues that England has to offer”, explains bassist Alvin. “Secondly, I’ve been watching Sumer live at Bloodstock Open Air 2015 on YouTube. The atmosphere they create with their music is hypnotic, specifically their track ‘Chisel’ (such a great song). Not only do I look forward to sharing the stage with such a prodigious band but I’m equally excited to create wonderful memories with them.” ~ Alvin Boucher (bass/backing vocals, Deity’s Muse)
Bloodstock Open Air is the UK’s biggest independent Metal festival, hosting artists from around the globe. Entertainment ranges from the most brutal to the most technical; from the most extreme through to milder sensibilities.
“It’s a major leap into the UK touring market for us. Being included on a festival as prestigious as Bloodstock is not only a wild dream come true, but completely surreal considering we’re a bunch of dudes from Alberton in South Africa. Some of our favourite bands have played this fest year in and year out; such as Opeth, Mastodon and Devin Townsend. So we were pretty gobsmacked at the news.” ~ Wayne Boucher (guitar/vocals, Deity’s Muse)
The current year’s line-up boasts USA 80’s supergroup Mr. Big, Finland’s crown jewel Nightwish, France’s mighty Gojira and UK legends Judas Priest to name but a few.
Rounding off its UK tour with a performance on the Sophie Lancaster Stage on what is now being dubbed ‘Priest Day’ at Bloodstock Festival, the band’s UK jaunt racks up as follows:
4 Aug | Cobblestones, Bridgwater
5 Aug | The Boiler Room, Guildford
6 Aug | The Black Heart, London
7 Aug | Craufurd Arms, Milton Keynes
8 Aug | Satan’s Hollow, Manchester
9 Aug | Bloodstock Festival, Derbyshire
