Gates of Aaru: have you been Indoctrinated

Johannesburg, South Africa: Melodic Black Metallers Gates Of Aaru darkened our hearts a shade as early as 2013. In November of that year, the band offered a debut single ‘Welcome To The New Dawn’; and whilst the arrival of that dawn has been slow to unfold, it has not been disappointing.

Today, we’ve been introduced to ‘Indoctrinated’, the first single from the band’s debut full-legth album, coming soon.

Indoctrinated, and more to come

‘Indoctrinated’ is not the first we’ve heard from Gates Of Aaru since ‘Welcome To The New Dawn’. In July of last year, the band offered up seven tracks in a package labelled In Retribution Of Life And Decay, also featuring the initial track. The arrival of ‘Indoctrinated’ heralds the imminent opening of a new chapter of music from the band.

“‘In Retribution Of Life And Decay’ was our first EP and was intended as a demo for the band rather than a full-length release. ‘Indoctrinated’ is one of the tracks taken from our up-coming first full-length album recorded at Dreamlab Studios due for release soon”. ~ Sean Hendry (vocals, Gates Of Aaru)

Sean also assures us that the band is preparing for a live onslaught to support the album when it arrives in 2018. We also quizzed him about the band’s artistic objectives, and what can be expected from the full release when it is delivered.

“Gates Of Aaru comes from a variety of backgrounds, influences and experiences which are brought to life in our sound in different ways. Some tracks are melodic whilst others are more aggressive, but each shares a common place in the roots that have brought us all to where we are today. This could be from good and bad places; things experienced in life, or things that have influenced and shaped us musically. We try to create our sound based on this and, in doing so, hope to create something unique and memorable”. ~ Sean Hendry

The album title and release date remain unannounced as of yet. Keep an eye on the Gates Of Aaru social media and M4A for updates.
