Turning Tricks Entertainment appear to have carved a wonderful niche for themselves in South Africa, focusing on the lighter end of the ‘metal’ spectrum, bordering on prog metal/rock and alternative rock. Having hosted acts covering as wide a spectrum as Dead Letter Circus, Affiance, Protest The Hero, Unearth, Monuments, and 36 Crazyfists in recent years, the foundations have been laid to host Australia’s Karnivool in 2016.

“Revolution is a chaotic and unbalanced affair. It challenges the state of things and, for those who revolt against the status quo, it bears both great risk and reward. These truths are as vital in art as they are in any other realm and it is within these redefining forces that Australian hard-rock architects, Karnivool thrive. With their acclaimed 2005 debut, Themata and 2009’s ground breaking follow-up, Sound Awake, Karnivool established themselves as one of the most vital forces in progressive modern music. Karnivool belied expectation again with their third album, Asymmetry in 2013. This brazen, introspective and expansive work was designed in the band’s Perth studio over two years and recorded with legendary producer Nick DiDia (Rage Against The Machine, Mastodon).” ~ excerpt from press statement by Plug Media

Having toured worldwide and appeared at such mammoth rock and metal celebrations as Sonisphere, Rock AM Ring and Download Festival; and highly acclaimed by press giants such as Kerrang, Rolling Stone and Metal Hammer, Karnivool are finally headed to South Africa for two shows in April 2016. At the time of publishing, there are no facebook event pages created yet, but full details can be viewed on the ticket purchasing website Computicket for Cape Town on Friday 22 April, and Johannesburg on Saturday 23 April.
