Cape Town, South Africa: since his relocation to Cape Town earlier in 2017 – also the home city to Laney Amplification headquarters in South Africa – guitar virtuoso Kris Xenopoulos has signed an endorsement deal with the local offshoot of the amplifier manufacturing brand.

Kris Xenopoulos, sometimes also known simply as Xenopoulos after his solo album A Frolic Through Space released in 2016, at the tender age of 20 years has already been a prominent figure on the local music circuit for a number of years and is rapidly growing his international footprint.

“Xenopoulos is a fun project. I definitely think I’ll release more solo music through that name soon enough, but that whole first album was just me releasing the weird music I had made for fun in my free time.” ~ Kris Xenolpoulos

Kris has performed the lead guitar with legendary Durban band Contrast The Water as well as being a founding member of his own Carnage Carnival (2014 Wacken Metal Battle SA regional finalist, plus 2015 SAMMA winner in ‘Best Thrash Band’ category). The most current praise to his musical profile comes as bass guitarist for the internationally acclaimed slam metal band Vulvodynia. However, there is even more; apart from a deluge of other side projects such as Vomit Cake, Grim Lake, Nervectomy and others, Kris and friends in Technopath are preparing for the releasing the collaborative project’s debut EP, Ontology.

Technopath 2017 Ontology artWhat makes Ontology so remarkable is the impressive list of participants in the collaboration effort, including no less than internationally championed Mattias Ia Eklundh (also Laney Amplification endorsed, Freak Kitchen), Bryan Beller (Dethklok) and Nick Johnston (Atomic Mind). A release date has yet to be confirmed, but will be within the coming months.

In the meantime, finishing touches to the EP will be made all that bit more juicy with the Laney ‘IRT Studio’, which brings multi-functionality and a perfect “indoors” compliment to the brand’s well known Ironheart amplifier head and cab, or amp combo series.

“A lot of my favourite guitarists use Laney and its a company I’ve loved for years.” ~ Kris Xenopoulos
