One of South Africa’s mightiest legends in the heavy metal genre pool have entered their third decade of existence as a band. SacriFist, established more than twenty years ago in 1993, still boasts two founding members who have survived the up’s and down’s of a very globally isolated and limiting local scene, and continue making metal today as they always have.
Hot off the reels, ‘Random Violence’ is the first recorded taste of a third-decade SacriFist and heralds the imminent release of another full-length studio album by the band to follow their 2009 Surrealist Plague album.
“We are very proud to present ‘Random Violence’ to our fans. This song, as most other songs, started out with us mucking about during practice and ended up to be what we think could be one of SacriFist‘s powerhouse tracks. We hope you enjoy it as much we like to play it, and we are really looking forward to touring South Africa with some of our favourite local bands again once this album drops!” ~ Sammy Simegi ~ (guitars, SacriFist)
Titled Tyranny, SacriFist hopes to be able to release the full album before year-end, although no promises have been made at this time owing to some delays already having occurred. Keep an eye on the bands facebook page for updates on touring information to come soon, and don’t forget to check them out at the much anticipated Witchfest open air festival coming in April of 2015, featuring a score of international acts such as Epica, Septic Flesh, Belphegor, Grave and more.
