Johannesburg, South Africa: one of the region’s most legendary extreme metal bands SacriFist are hours away from releasing their fifth studio album Tyranny. To whet appetites for their Gauteng launch show at Rumours Lounge tomorrow night (12 March 2016), they have released the album’s title track via Reverbnation.
The album has been long in the making, with first murmurs of it’s recording reaching back to 2013 when the band was already celebrating their 20th year anniversary. At that time, a release was anticipated for the following year, but many life challenges intervened and caused for a massive slowdown in the process. Most significant of these challenges has been the relocation of former lead guitarist Tommy Postma to Europe, with replacement Wayne Colley now ready to assume the live duties. With the task finally complete, founding member Sammy had the following to say:
“What a feeling of accomplishment! In a way I feel that all the hard work is going to pay off and in another way I feel relieved that the madness that went into all of this is over and that we are finally able to hit the stage again after such a long break. Overall, I would say that its liberating in every way.” ~ Sammy Simegi (guitar, SacriFist)
The full album becomes available in hardcopy format tomorrow, 12 March, with attendees of the concert being rewarded by having first dibs. Hardcopies and digital albums can be purchased via No Ordinary Outfit thereafter, with digital purchase also becoming available in two weeks time via iTunes and Amazon Music. The launch concert will feature fellow metal bands Dark Matter, Psordid, Deadline, Adorned In Ash and Portraits of Flesh. For further details, visit the official facebook event page.
