Melodic death metal in Cape Town has strengthened its ranks with Thread Of Omen having released their debut album, Palace Of The Fathers, in February 2015. Their first live show following the release is coming up on 28 February at The Nameless Pub in Somerset West, near Cape Town, along with Conduit, Nebula Disrupt, and The Fallen Prophets.
Thread Of Omen hit the live scene running in 2013, quickly earning themselves a slot at metal4africa’s SummerFest’14. Midway through last year, the band fell ominously silent on the live circuit after a long and sustained energy burst; and have now unveiled the fruits of that work which had kept them from the live stage. Palace Of The Fathers was recorded by Heinrich Kollner, himself an active musician known for fronting Wargrave and being a founding member of Suiderbees (now also returned to that band since 2014).
“It was a pleasure working with such a talented guy. He was so insightful and made the process comfortable for all the members. We feel that he gave us a very raw and natural feeling and we could not be happier.” ~ Victor van den Heever (vocals, Thread Of Omen)
The band also took longer to complete the project than they had anticipated with the loss of their former bassist, eventually requiring lead guitarist and chief songwriter Stian Etsebeth to stand in for the studio recordings. The band have since begun working with a new bassist they plan to introduce at their first post-release show on 28 January, for which full details can be found at the official facebook event page.
