USA metallers Unearth have just been revealed as headliner for Turning Tricks Entertainment‘s annual festival event: Krank’d Up. Based in Gauteng, Krank’d Up has become firmly established at the popular Sundowners venue in Alberton since their first festival in 2012. Last year featured Dead Letter Circus from Australia and also Decortica from New Zealand.
Unearth, from the State of Massachusetts in the USA, have been belting out releases since the close of the 90s and released their most recent full length album in 2011 titled Darkness In The Light on the mighty Metal Blade Records label. This was their fifth full length studio release. They have performed tours and festivals alongside other recent visitors to South Africa such as In Flames, Trivium, Killswitch Engage and Lamb Of God.
“Unearth will be playing an exclusive one-night-only show at Krank’d Up in Johannesburg. Krank’d Up is still in its infancy and one day we would love to expand the festival by taking the show to Cape Town. Baby steps first though, but we believe we will get there soon.” ~ Wayne Boucher (Turning Tricks Entertainment)
Bringing Unearth to South Africa has been a long-time goal, and seems a fitting choice given Turning Tricks Entertainment rapid gain in momentum as of late.
“From a personal stand point, seeing Unearth live was always on my bucket list. To have them play live in South Africa and specifically Krank’d Up is a dream come true!” ~ Wayne Boucher
Krank’d Up will be taking place on Saturday 27 September 2014 at it’s regular home-base of Sundowners. In addition to Unearth, local acts will be announced as from May month.
