Witchfest Open Air finalizes international line-up for 2015

Legendary death metal titans Cannibal Corpse and technical death metal stalwarts Decapitated have been added to the biggest international metal line-up seen in Africa.

Witchfest Open Air festival, which aims to cater exclusively for metal and hard rock genres, is gearing up for a hard-hitting slam at the record books for the first of its kind under African skies. Whilst festivals featuring extreme genres have been no strangers to South Africa for many years already, this is the first attempt at creating a festival which caters as much to an international audience as it does to a local one. The festival promoter, Witchdoctor Productions, has been active in the South African metal scene since 1999, already having hosted a series of tours by international bands, as well as it’s Witchfest brand annually up until 2008. The promoter fell inactive within the local scene for a number of years, planning for a 2014 return which has manifest in a larger way than the public ever could have anticipated. This year has already seen Witchdoctor Productions touring Kataklysm, Sepultura, and next weekend’s Behemoth and Konkhra visit to South Africa.

2015’s Witchfest Open Air is scheduled for Easter Weekend spanning Thursday 02 to Monday 06 April in the North-West Province of South Africa, within a short drive from the economic hub of Johannesburg. The venue, Klein Korperaal, is situated along the R560 roadway between Hartbeespoort and Magaliesburg. It can be reached by tar road in under one hours travel from Johannesburg and approximately 30Km from Lanseria International Airport; and lays at least 5000Km (that is 3000+ miles) from the Ebola concern in Liberia (which equates to approximately the same likelihood of encountering a polar bear in The Bahamas).
