Durban, South Africa: the East Coast has never been shy with extreme music, and Become The Watcher is just another glistening thorn in the crown of brutality. Become The Watcher released a follow-up to its 2014 Paradigm debut album with a new EP last week. The latest work is titled Psychophants.
Psychophants is the result of a few years graft and wrapping up of an earlier ambition which stalled in 2017. During 2016 Become The Watcher announced work on the EP, which at that time was to be titled Conflict Of Assimilation.
“This EP is a collection of tracks written between 2015 and 2017 before the band went on a bit of a hiatus. As usual, there’s a broad range of metal influences as we try to incorporate the different aspects of metal that we like into our tracks. There’s more of a black metal influence, especially on Cerebral Onslaught and Malignant Perjury and all round heaviness when compared to our previous release. A direction we’re sure to further on our next release.” ~ Rudi Greyvenstein (guitar, Become The Watcher)

Rudi tells us that Become The Watcher is on the go again since deciding to enter for the 2019 Wacken Metal Battle.
“This meant regrouping and getting our shit together. In the process of we have gained a bit of momentum and enthusiasm, so you can expect to hear more from us on the near future.” ~ Rudi Greyvenstein
It is likely that another EP or album will appear before the end of 2019. For now, Psychophants is available via Bandcamp.
