Ill System: time to wake a Sleeping Giant

Sleeping Giant

Cape Town, South Africa: legendary cross-over Metal band Ill System brings an eclectic and exciting dynamism into a heavy, bouncy package. With roots in the local scene dating back to the early 2000’s, as well as a a couple of years in the UK, Ill System returned to local stages in 2014.

Today Ill System is treating us to a brand new song, complete with the now-expected and delightful peculiarities, titled ‘Sleeping Giant’. This comes in anticipation of Ill System supporting the USA’s Attila live at Mercury in Cape Town on 15 June.

The first of more new songs coming in 2019: Sleeping Giant

‘Sleeping Giant’ follows in the footsteps of other provocative – albeit slightly rare – released material from Ill System.

“‘Sleeping Giant’ is Ill System’s most introspective song to date. It symbolizes the band’s return, as well as political and circumstantial frustrations experienced by us, plus by South African a whole.” ~ Ramone Pickover (drums, Ill System)

This latest single represents a spurt of new content coming from Ill System in the foreseeable future. The band spent several months behind the scenes preparing for fresh onslaught, live and to your playlist.

“Since our show with Lithium at Mercury in November, we’ve been focusing on furiously writing new material. Which is the reason for our lack of live shows. Our first show since November is on 15 June where we’ll be supporting the mighty Attila. We’ll be debuting some of our new material on the night.” ~ Ramone Pickover

Get tickets for the Attila concert via Quicket. Ill System will support Attila alongside fellow locals, Rhakshah and Treehouse Burning.

You can also acquire ‘Sleeping Giant’ via bandcamp.
