Cape Town, South Africa: it grows more apparent that even under lockdown, the underground arts will continue in garages and living rooms undaunted as they always have. Creeping ever closer to its 20-year milestone, Terminatryx offers a new video for its song ‘Blame’.
Remarkably, we also see a “new” old face in the video. Bret Elkington, who was a part of the earliest iteration of Terminatryx in 2003, is back! A little shift, however, is that Paul Blom who has been on bass for all of these years took over on guitar with the departure of Patrick Davidson in 2017; with Bret now filling in Paul’s former role.
Blame: relevant to the time
“With the sucky, crazy, twisted isolated turmoil of the current situation, naturally Terminatryx had to keep the fire burning with a bit of a remote live jamming to get the members together virtually from their separate homes in lockdown. The chosen song is also pretty relevant for the time: ‘Blame’.” ~ Paul Blom (multi-instrumentalist, Terminatryx)
Furthermore, Paul reveals that Terminatryx is hard at work producing another album. Whilst further details on the album are mum for now, the band is excited about its latest member.
“It’s great to have Bret back in the band, and performing ‘Blame’ – although under these restrictive circumstances – solidifies our return to a four-piece.” ~ Sonja Ruppersburg-Blom (vocals, Terminatryx)
