Johannesburg, South Africa: the plot thickens as The Kraken is Alive announces USA’s Atreyu as the second international headliner alongside Scotland’s Alestorm. Moreover, the promoter is heeding the call from Cape Town fans of live entertainment to extend show dates to that city also. Unlike Alestorm, which will only play Johannesburg, Atreyu will play in both cities.
This will be the band’s first time to South Africa, adding to an increasing list of monumental Metalcore acts to grace our shores.
Atreyu: In Our Wake
Atreyu is still riding hard on the momentum of its latest release in 2018, In Our Wake. This is Atreyu‘s seventh studio album since kicking off in 1998, and its second since returning to action after a brief hiatus (2001-2013). The band is celebrated in particular for its first two albums; Suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses in 2002 as well as The Curse in 2004. Some critics attribute the roots of the metalcore genre to Atreyu among few other bands from a similar time period.
